Technical description for port 995:

The port 995 is used by the Post Office Protocol 3 over TSL/SSL (POP3S). The port is used to retrieve email from online servers. POP3 is the other popular email protocol along with IMAP. The POP3 is used by the program when the email messages are to be accessed even when the program is not connected to the Internet.
The POP3 protocol allows emails to be composed, edited, read and managed even when the user is offline. The email messages are retrieved through the port 995. The default port used for ordinary POP3 messages is 110. The port 995 is dedicated to encrypted email messages retrieved via the POP3 protocol. The encryption is specified by the TLS/SSL cryptography protocol.
The messages entering the system from the port 995 are encrypted. The decryption is then processed by the POP3 program that requested them.
Some implementations of the POP3 protocol are Microsoft Outlook and the Eudora Internet Mail Server.
