Technical description for port 8000:
Port 8000 is one of the widely used ports under the IANA listing. It was originally a dedicated port for iRDMI or the Intel Remote Desktop Manage Interface service. This allows Intel Corporation to remotely handle troubleshooting and basic repair of their products via Internet.
Port 8000 is also used by Intel RDMI to remotely access a computer system, retrieve information on both hardware and software, and provide an update to improve computer performance.
Port 8000 is also widely used as the access point for remote Web servers. Applications like Java RunTime, ShoutCast and Dell OpenManage Server Administration use port 8000 to allow users to enter their database, as well as to listen to the said port for service requests.
Trojan and worms also make use of port 8000 as a backdoor for remote users to infiltrate the system. Most of the Trojans that open up port 8000 are those variants that propagate using its own SMTP to send out infected emails via port 8000, as well as those that open it to allow remote hackers to enter and manipulate the infected machine.
