Technical description for port 50:
This port uses the TCP (Transmission Control Protocol). TCP is one of the key protocols in TCP/IP network. Using this port, the IP protocol contracts only with a packet. TCP provides connection between two hosts to trade streams of information. TCP makes sure that information is released and will be passed on to Port 50 in the same order they were delivered. This is the main difference of TCP to UDP. UDP port 50 does not guarantee communication the same way as TCP.
This port classifies a protocol to give a mail checking service to be utilized among clients and server pairs. Naturally, an undersized application on a client workstation would utilize the protocol to query a server in locating new data received for a particular user. This port is still an experimental protocol.
