Technical description for port 3260:

Port 3260 is the official port for iSCSI or Internet SCSI. This service allows clients (initiators) to send SCSI-based commands to a SCSI storage device on a remote terminal. The mode of TCP access may either be LAN or WAN.
Port 3260 is mostly used by the SAN (Storage Area Network) for maximize data stores on various terminals incorporating SCSI drivers without the need of attaching extra disks.
Port 3260 is used with TCP/IP to allow 2 host computers to communicate SCSI commands using basic IP networks.
When port 3260 is open, users can easily initiate data transfer from one SCSI storage device to another without the need for sophisticated networking tools and strategies. In some ways, SCSI storage hardware is simply opened up on port 3260 with an IP address bound to it for lookup.
