Technical description for port 21:
Port 21 is the main focus of rules embedded on built-in or third-party firewall applications. These firewall programs issue requests to the system for opening port 21 whenever necessary in order to properly facilitate data transfers. However, non-FTP servers cannot access this port 21 functionality. Only static rerouting methods to internal network FTP servers are provided by port 21 to non-FTP servers.
