Port 194 is an open protocol. It uses TCP and TLS. IRC system uses this port to connect from one IRC to another in order for expanding the IRC network. Users connect to a client server to access IRC networks. IRC was originally a plain text protocol. IRC can be used with byte-stream clients like Netcat or Telnet.
