Description of ErrorThe Windows Error 8211 can occur after a Windows 2000-based DC is downgraded to a member server status by employing the Dcpromo.exe process. When users run Dcpromo.exe on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based domain controller, they will encounter the error event that may be recorded in the event log. The NIS server and the NIS service server may also not function correctly or may not start. The Windows Error 8211 error can also make the Windows unable to create a thread for receiving UNIX-based password change notifications.

One of them is to use the SFU 2.0 MSI Wizard to remove the NIS Server before demoting the Windows 2000-based domain controller. The user can also restore the system as a server for SFU NIS, upgrade the server back to a domain controller and reinstall SFU NIS.
